Running Progression

I started running in the winter of 2020 for fitness coming from a pretty sedentary lifestyle and some unhealthy habits. After having got a road bike in the start of 2021 and being able to go swimming a lot with my first child during the summer, I entered a olympic distance triathlon. I really enjoyed the competition but also noticed that running was the area that I could dedicate most training time and energy to.

In my running I had seen quite a lot of improvement in time trials and embarked on a training plan from Jack Daniel's in preparation for the Berlin HM 2022. Before that the only running race was Strömstadmilen (10km) in 2011 which I ran in 51:56.

Later in 2022 I made my marathon debut in Berlin. I was aiming to get a automatic qualifying time (2:45) for subsequent entries but ended up with 2:49:20. I didn't wait long and tried the following spring in Hamburg but ended up completely blowing up at 25km and jogging in. The end of 2023 brought some redemption on the hilly one-off Gothenburg marathon where I finished 11th with 2:42:09.

After being a member since the end of 2023 of SCC I decided to switch to Lonely Goat RC as I was no training with the team, didn't participate in regional events, and also not planning on any major Berlin events next year.

2024

Fitness is still improving well and I want to knock down some big time barriers this year and also compete as a member of SCC Berlin.

2023

I ended 2022 with a nasty two week case of the flu and then got injured after 6 weeks in my training plan so I had a pivot and started with the strength section of the plan from Hanson's marathon method.

With a pretty good HM in Berlin, but a disappointing marathon in Hamburg 3 weeks afterwards I wanted to work on getting quicker at shorter distances. I had a 10km at the beginning of June and enrolled Victor Smångs as a coach until the end of the year. I managed to PR over all distances (5,10,HM,M) but going into 2024 hungry.

2022

After getting a GPS watch during a cyber Monday deal in 2020 I started running regularly. I had found 4:00/km a nice pace and after getting a 20 minute 5K in the bag I have extended this up to 10k and half marathon distances and finished Berlin Marathon 22 with a 4:01/ pace.
