Software engineer at Avaloq in Berlin since April 2023, on core banking for private banks and wealth managers. The thread through the work is interfaces: getting data in and out of the core system, and finding where a chain broke when something fails in production.

FinTS

I am the technical lead and main contact for FinTS. That runs from raising and prioritising a requirement, through the implementation, to something that can go to production. The decisions and the dependencies get agreed with the other teams involved. Alongside that I build and run interfaces, external APIs, and file- and batch-based integrations for several bank customers, including Java microservices for FinTS use cases.

Production incidents

When a production or customer incident crosses systems, I reconstruct the processing chain end to end, narrow the cause, and coordinate the technical teams who each own a piece of it.

External interfaces

One recent piece of work was connecting an external provider by API: access, technical users, and the security constraints, then a design for a release-ready integration that another bank could reuse.

Audit preparation

On accounting, costs, and fees I brought the development-side preparation for the IDW PS 880 audit in-house and carried it through the last three audit cycles, next to customer-specific changes driven by the business requirements.

Before Avaloq

At Materna (2019–2023) I worked on Java and Jakarta EE systems. That included a module that processed registrations together with several public authorities, a greenfield customs project that orchestrated dozens of external sources with Camunda, and moving a legacy application off Oracle Forms onto our own JSF implementation.

At hy, the Axel Springer consulting group (2017–2019), I worked on innovation and startup scouting: pulling together signals from global technology activity so clients could decide what to build, partner with, or invest in, and sparring with them on innovation and digitisation.
